Pastry Puff

Last year a dear friend of mine gave me a very inspiring recipe book full of delectible recipes but I never get to try them out till a few months ago.. The book has hands on easy instructions (or so i thought) on making pastries from scratch, so I said to myself.. Lets make some mini choco croissant!

OK.. the pastry folding part was easy.. but the pastry dough making part, was a total mess! No pics on that :D
luckily I was introduced to a perfect solution.. a supermarket away.. ready made rolled pasty puff that is.. ;)

with the puff pastry taken care of, all that's left to think about is the filling..

cream cheese,chocolates,sausages, ham, cheese... hmm.. quattro formaggi? :D

be creative, make your own perfect concoction, shapes and sizes!

Baking session is back.. This time we are baking with Splenda..

My dear baker friend's husband has diabetes, while the rest of us were just cutting down on sugar. ;P I can't say baking with sugar substitute doesn't affect the taste or texture of the cake, but I find that Splenda has the least aftertaste compared to other brands out there, plus the idea of having "0 calorie" of sugar in my cake doesn't stop to put a smile on my face.

Valentine's day baking session

It's Valentine's day!
again??!...

well.. I don't want to sound heartless.. but I'm really not a fan of Valentine's day..it's overated & caused so much commotion.. how many of your friends ended up fighting just because one of them forgot to be super sweet to the other on this so called special day? I've seen plenty of ugly fights.. but Hey..You don't have to wait for Valentine's day to be sweet to your loved ones..or to bake them a special cake.. Do it everyday and make any day a special day.. ^^ I think I like the sound of that better than having just 1 special day out of 365 days..

Despite my resentment to celebrate Vday..that doesn't stop me from baking...with my luved ones.. the baking session gank ^^
