How it all began..


It all began over a box of cupcakes a friend and I had in L.A. I have always been a big fan of desserts and cakes, but never quite a cupcake enthusiast. However, a dear friend of mine had been raving about this so called “best cupcake ever!!!” called Sprinkles.. And so, one fine day about half decade ago, she sent me a box of these babies.
(This was the actual photo of the box she got us, yes it was that memorable that I kept the pic.. haha ;p)

Ever since, a trip down to Melrose avenue became our monthly ritual and is a must everytime we were in L.A. For years we consume this sugary substance in heavy dose to a point where we got sick of it… then back to crave badly for it..and the cycle goes on..

Upon my return to Indonesia in late 2005, there was no way I could get on hold a freshly baked sprinkles cupcake. So I decided to learn to bake my own version of yummy cupcakes. The only problem was.. Although I luved baking, I've never baked cupcakes before. I have to admit, my first attempt was… barely 9% close to sprinkle’s.. :D they were both sweet at least.. *lol*

There is something different and oddly addictive about baking cupcakes, it's so simple yet it can be customized to be as complicated as you wish for. From it's flavor, filling, icing to the decoration.. it's limitless..

After batches of experimenting with different recipes, I've finally come down to flavors and textures that I liked. So I took more challanges by making mini cakes to tier cakes, baking for friends and relatives and eventually taking special orders, hence, Sweet Couture was born. :)
